Safety &
Health is concerned with the impacts of the work environment and the
management of risks to the safety and health of the individual in the workplace
as well as the risks posed to the broader community
Safety
& Health of the individual and the community are compromised when
environmental risks are created through industrial and workplace activities.
Perhaps the pre-eminent example is the threat posed by the widespread
use of asbestos, from roofing and fencing materials to road base and brake
liners. The threat posed to the individual is a degenerate and fatal lung
disease which affects both the individual workers industries and the general
members on the community in which these products were sold.
