EHAA - Membership Application

I would like to take a few minutes of your time to introduce the Environmental Health Association (Australia) and discuss some practical advantages of being a member of this new and innovative organisation.

New members joining EHAA will note the potential advantages for people coming from broader areas than local government environmental health. The EHAA can provide a mentoring role and a valuable exchange of information, a difference in perspective for environmental scientists in many capacities as well as for people with a health background interested in entering environmental fields.

EHAA has developed ten special interest groups and appointed coordinators to advise members on important issues and seek comment in the development of policy positions. SIGs include Built Environment, Professional Management, Food Safety, Emergency Management, Waste Management, Climate Change, Indigenous Health, Safety & Health, Public Health and Sustainability.

EHAA provides regular training and information seminars in the form of a SIG workshop every few months with SIGs coordinating a speaker to discuss or introduce a topical issue.

Member Benefits include membership to Shoprite, complimentary attendance at SIG workshops, quarterly e-newsletter, regular ‘Infomail’ updates and moderate annual membership fees.

We are also delighted to offer corporate membership for the first time in 2009/2010. The EHAA has recognised the benefits of incorporating industry as an equal partner within its professional association and how such involvement has can bring industry knowledge and experience into conferences, seminars and informational media, not as a sponsor but as an equal partner.

Inviting industry as an equal partner presents an opportunity for industry to present its products to a wider audience and incorporate research and development melded into papers and presentations at conferences and seminars. This opportunity is extended to industry, local, state & federal government agencies, educational institutions, small business and individuals in business to join the EHAA as a Corporate Member. We believe that Corporate Membership of the Association will be seen as a benefit not only to industry and the EHAA but as a benefit to the entire Environmental Health Profession.

EHAA was formed to enable members to express their opinions across a range of public health and environmental health concerns. The second central feature is that, as a federated, autonomous incorporated organisation, all decision making to be undertaken at State Level.
