Indigenous Health
Special Interest Group

Indigenous Health is concerned with creating and main-taining environments that promote good public health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This special interest group takes into account the particular logistical and cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the challenges that have resulted in higher than average levels of morbidity and mortality. There is evidence that these populations suffer a disproportionate impact from both increased exposures to environmental hazards and decreased access to services. The Indigenous Health Special Interest Group will work to highlight and address issues relevant to improving the environmental health conditions for indigenous people and their communities.
